CAW Membership ratify new collective agreements with CN
Over 4000 CAW members employed at Canadian National Railway who are represented by National Council 4000 and
Local 100 have voted in favour of the new tentative labour agreements reached with CN on January 15, 2007 in Toronto.

Council 4000 members who are employed in various administrative, clerical, customer support, blue collar, skilled trade
crane and vehicle mechanics, excavator operators and Intermodal workers (Collective Agreements 5.1, 5.4 and Intermodal
Supplemental), voted 87% in favour of the new deal, while the CNTL Owner Operator truck driver membership voted 83% in
favour of their new agreement with CN Transportation Ltd.

Local 100, which represents the over 2000 shopcraft workers voted 76% in favour of their new contract.

The new collective agreements are effective January 1, 2007 and run until midnight on December 31, 2010.

CAW continues bargaining with Toronto Terminal Railways
The CAW is in the midst of negotiations on a new collective for CAW Local 4003 (Council 4000) members employed with
Toronto Terminal Railways (TTR).  On Tuesday (April 17), TTR tabled demands to suspend the contracting out clause for
station employees, which the Union feels may lead to an eventual end of station staff, and to establish a spareboard for
Flagman classifications, which the Union feels will negatively impact members’ overall quality of life and employment
conditions.

CAW and VIA Rail to resume negotiations May 14th
The CAW and VIA Rail Canada have scheduled dates to recommence negotiations the week of May 14 in Montreal for
Agreements 1 and 2 (CAW Council 4000) and Agreement 3 (CAW Local 100).  Further talks have been scheduled for the
week of May 28 at a location yet to be determined.  The CAW bargaining committees have recently applied for conciliation.

Update on negotiations between the CAW and VIA Rail
The CAW met with VIA Rail May 14th through May 18th in Montreal to continue negotiations on CAW/VIA Rail Collective
Agreements No. 1 and No. 2 (CAW Council 4000) and Agreement No. 3 (CAW Local 100).

CAW and Toronto Terminal Railways reach tentative 3-year deal
The CAW has reached a tentative three year deal with the Toronto Terminal Railways (TTR).  Each
year of the proposed deal will see wage increases of 3%, with additional increases from one to
8% for other specific classifications.  The Union successfully negotiated the elimination of the
concessionary demands that TTR placed on the bargaining table.

CAW and VIA Rail Negotiations continue
From May 28th through May 31st, the CAW VIA Rail Bargaining Committees met with VIA Rail in Toronto for a fourth week of
negotiations on a new labour deal.  The two sides have spent significant time discussing work rules.  While the talks
continue to be positive, VIA remains slow to respond.  Further bargaining dates are scheduled for the weeks of June 25th
and July 16th, with the assistance of Federal Conciliation officers.

CAW VIA Rail members vote 93.6% in favour of strike action
The CAW recently conducted strike vote meetings with it’s VIA Rail membership across Canada.  The strike vote meetings
were well-attended by CAW VIA Rail members who have given their full support to their elected bargaining committees as
they move towards a strike deadline on July 22, 2007 at 00:01 hours local time.

Countdown at VIA Rail as CAW prepares July 22nd strike action
The CAW continues to meet around the clock with VIA Rail Canada in attempt to reach a collective agreement prior to the
deadline of 00:01 hours on July 22nd.  The CAW served strike notice on the Crown Corporation on Tuesday, July 17th.  
CAW National Council 4000 and its five regionally based Local Unions represent VIA Rail employees who are employed as
on-board train and customer service personnel, station and baggage attendants, customer service representatives and
ticket agents, various administrative positions, locomotive attendants, hostlers and labourers.

CAW reaches tentative agreement with VIA Rail avoiding strike action
Only 24-hours before the July 22nd strike deadline, the CAW reached a tentative agreement with VIA Rail.  The CAW's VIA
Rail leadership from across Canada will arrive in Montreal on Monday to review and discuss the new agreement.  
Ratification meetings will begin shortly.

CAW Ratifies new agreements with VIA Rail
The more than 2,600 CAW members working at VIA Rail have overwhelmingly ratified the new collective agreement by 82
per cent overall.
