Earth Hour is on March 29, 2008 at 8:00 P.M. Local Time
On March 29, 2008 at 8 p.m. local time, cities across Canada and around the world will
turn off their lights for Earth Hour; a WWF event to raise awareness about climate change
and symbolize that, working together the people of the world can make a difference in the
fight against climate change.

CN Extended Health Care Deadline is March 31, 2008
March 31, 2008 is the deadline for CN members to submit claims for incurred expenses covered by the
Extended Health Care Plan.  The EHCP, negotiated by the Union during collective bargaining, provides
benefits for Major Medical, Vision Care, Prescription Drugs and hospital expenses.

CN latest target of unpaid-overtime class action
Canadian National Railway Co. is facing class action litigation over allegedly unpaid overtime.  The lawsuit
alleges Canada's largest railway misclassified operational supervisors as management to avoid paying
them overtime required under the Canada Labour Code.

First CAW Earth Hour event a success
Over 150 CAW members joined with local residents, high school students and teachers to celebrate Earth
Hour at the Union's Family Education Facility in Port Elgin, Ontario.  This was part of a global effort by
citizens in hundreds of cities around the world committed to turning of the lights in their homes and
workplaces for one hour in recognition of the role each of us can play in stopping climate change.

April 22 is Earth Day
Celebrated every April 22nd, Earth Day is the largest, most celebrated
environmental event worldwide.  In Canada, more than 6 million Canadians
join 500 million people in over 180 countries in staging events and projects to
address local environmental issues.  Nearly every school child in Canada
takes part in an Earth Day activity.

Railways gouging farmers by taking 'excessive returns'
A study commissioned by the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) argues that CN and CP Rail have taken more
than $100-million a year in "unreasonably excessive returns" for transporting Prairie grain to port.  
"Farmers are being held captive by railway monopolies," Bob Friesen, president of the Canadian
Federation of Agriculture said recently.

April 28, 2008 is the International Day of Mourning
On December 28, 1990, 8-years after the Day of Remembrance was launched by the
Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), the Government of Canada passed the Workers
Mourning Day Act, which established April 28 as the official day of observance to annually
commemorate workers killed, injured or disabled on the job, or who suffer from
occupational related illnesses.  This day is also intended to show Canadians' concern for
occupational health and safety.

CN and Unions agree to extend pension consent mediation
The CAW, IBEW, TCRC and UTU continue to meet with CN alongside mediator-arbitrator Michel Picher in
hopes of reaching a settlement outside of arbitration proceedings on the longstanding dispute these
unions have had with CN on the issue of pension consent.  The timeline for mediation proceedings has
been extended until Friday, May 9th.  Further updates will be posted as it is made available.
