|TCRC gives strike notice to CN
The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC), representing 1,700 locomotive engineers at Canadian National Railway, has served
notice that their members will take legal strike action at 00:01 local time on Saturday, November 28, 2009.
CN says that the TCRC should agree to submit the issues that are in dispute to binding arbitration before the November 28th strike
deadline, similar to the approach taken with agreement to binding arbitration to end its strike at VIA Rail Canada in July.
The Canadian Auto Workers Union takes this opportunity to express its full support for the TCRC and its members to achieve a
satisfactory collective agreement on behalf of their members.
CAW members are legally required to work as usual. You are, however, legally entitled to refuse to perform any work normally done
by TCRC members. In the event of possible picket lines, it is CN’s obligation to ensure full communications with the CAW and our
members if any difficulties arise.
If any problem or question arises in either respect, you are requested to immediately contact a full-time union representative for
assistance: Your Regional Representative (Council 4000), Regional Vice-President (Local 100) or a CAW National Representative.
Let us deal with management on your behalf.
We wish the TCRC and its members every success in achieving their demands.
