Second Ballot Election underway to elect new Council 4000 Regional Representative for Local 4002
CAW Local 4002 members on the Prairie Region are set to vote on the second ballot run-off election to elect a new Regional
Representative to replace Rick Doherty.  Doherty, the longest serving Regional Representative for CAW National Council 4000, will
retire effective July 2, 2009, which is the date his replacement will be elected to a new three year term.  Doherty was first elected in
the summer of 1997, and was re-elected to two additional three year terms in 2000 and 2003, and was acclaimed in 2006.

The full-time position is responsible for servicing the CN membership on the Prairie Region, handling final stage grievances,
arbitration, Short Term Disability disputes and a member of the CAW National Bargaining Committee for negotiations on CN
Agreement 5.1 and the 5.1 Supplemental Agreement (CN Intermodal).

Running on the second ballot is Chuck Barbour, presently the Local Chairperson for CN Agreement 5.1 members at the Symington
Yard Diesel Shop in Winnipeg, and Dan Michaluk, former President of CAW Local 4002 and presently the Local Chairperson for
Agreement 5.1 clerical members in Winnipeg.

Michaluk and Barbour, respectively, garnered the majority of votes on the first ballot, but neither candidate captured the required
50% plus one vote majority to win the first ballot.  The first ballot election also included candidates Guy Bouvier and Alvin Bruyere.

Members should start receiving ballots this week and the results will be determined by July 1, 2009.  The candidate with the simple
majority of votes will succeed.
