CAW National Council 4000 Regional Representative Election Results


First ballot election results were released by the National Election Committee of CAW National Council 4000 following five separate
elections for the positions of Regional Representative for Council 4000 across Canada.  Of the five elections, four winners were
declared on the first ballot, and where a second ballot run-off will be required on the Prairie Region to replace Rick Doherty who will
be retiring at the end of his current term effective July 2, 2009.

Existing Regional Representatives Serge Auger, Danny Andru and Barry Kennedy were re-elected to new three year terms by
acclamation.

In the other elections:

Local 4001 and 4002 (Western Canada) responsible for servicing the Council 4000 membership at Rocky Mountain
Catering Co. Ltd., Rocky Mountaineer Vacations and VIA Rail Canada - Elected to his first term as a Regional Representative is
Dave Kissack from Winnipeg, Manitoba, who defeated his challengers Matt Fisher and John Matthews.

Local 4002 (Prairie Region) responsible for servicing the Council 4000 membership at CN and CNTL - As a 50% plus one vote
majority on a first ballot was not attained, a second ballot run-off will be required between
Chuck Barbour and Dan Michaluk, who
garnered the most votes.  Brother Michaluk received a the largest percentage of votes followed closely by Brother Barbour.  The
run-off election will start on May 28th and results will be determined before July 1st.

Local 4003 (Great Lakes Region) responsible for servicing the Council 4000 membership at CN, CNTL, Coyote Terminals and
Toronto Terminals Railway - Re-elected to his first full term as Regional Representative is
John Almdal in a close race with challenger
Geoff Green.  The results were almost identical to the last time the two challenged one another for the Regional Rep job in 2008.

Local 4004 and 4005 (Eastern Canada) responsible for servicing the Council 4000 membership at CN and CNTL - In a very
close race,
Jean Savard defeated incumbent Claude Rainville by just 8 votes to be the third Regional Representative to service the
CN membership on the St. Lawrence and Atlantic Regions.  This will be the first time Brother Savard will serve as a Regional Rep.  He
is presently the Local Chairperson of the CN Intermodal membership in Montreal.

Local 4005 (Atlantic Region) responsible for servicing the Council 4000 membership at DHL, Nova Scotia Federation of
Labour, Scanwood Canada, VIA Rail Canada and World Trade and Convention Centre Halifax - Re-elected to his second term as
Regional Representative in a another very tight race, by just two votes, is
Lou Walsh, who defeated challenger Jennifer Brown, who
is presently the Vice President of Local 4005.
