CAW National Council 4000 Regional Representative Elections


The ballots are out and the election is now underway for the positions of Regional Representative for CAW National Council 4000.  
The Council has 8-full time Regional Representative positions across Canada to service the various areas of our approximate 5,000
members.  Ballots were distributed to members' residences on April 7th and are to be returned in the self addressed postage paid
envelope by May 8, 2009, which is the cut-off date.  The results will be issued by May 11th.  Candidates require a 50% plus one
vote majority to win.  If a run-off election is required, it will begin on May 28th.  The positions are effective July 2, 2009.  

These positions play a significant role in the servicing of our membership from coast to coast.

Serge Auger was first elected to the Council as a Regional Representative in 2006, and will begin his second term effective July 2,
2009.  Serge is based out of the Council's Montreal office.

Danny Andru was first elected as a Regional Rep in 1997, serving two terms up until 2003.  He was re-elected again in 2006.  Danny
is based in the Council's offices at Union Station in downtown Toronto.

Barry Kennedy was first elected as a Regional Rep in 2000.  This will be Barry's fourth consecutive term as the Regional Rep
servicing members in Alberta and BC.  Barry is based out of the CAW Regional Offices in Edmonton.

There will be at least two new faces following these elections, as current Regional Representatives Dave Mercer-Hazlitt (Local 4001/
4002 responsible for VIA Rail, Rocky Mountaineer Vacations and Rocky Mountain Catering Co.) and Rick Doherty (Local 4002
responsible for CN and CNTL) will be retiring at the end of their current terms (June 30, 2009).
