CAW National Council 4000 endorse and support Ken Lewenza and Peter Kennedy

CAW National Council 4000 recently passed a resolution supporting the CAW National
Executive Board’s endorsement of Ken Lewenza and Peter Kennedy as President and
Secretary-Treasurer of the CAW respectively.  

The election for CAW National President will be held at a
Special Convention that will be
held on September 06, 2008 in Toronto, when long-time President Basil “Buzz” Hargrove
will retire.  The election for National Secretary-Treasurer will be held at the Constitutional
Convention in August 2009 when long-time incumbent Jim O’Neil will complete his current
three-year mandate and retire.

Ken Lewenza is an outspoken and well-known figure in the Windsor-Essex area in
Ontario.  Lewenza has been the President of CAW Local 444, based in Windsor, since
1994, having previously held numerous in-plant and Local Executive positions.

He has presided over five consecutive sets of negotiations with Chrysler as the chair of the CAW Chrysler Master Bargaining
Committee.  Lewenza is also the current President of CAW Council, the parliament of the CAW National Union.

Peter Kennedy has been the assistant to National Secretary-Treasurer Jim O’Neil since 1992.  Kennedy plays an integral role in the
daily operations of the union and holds numerous collective bargaining responsibilities that include General Motors, CAMI (a GM-
Suzuki joint venture in Ingersoll, Ontario), the aerospace sector as well as the electronics and electrical sectors of the CAW.

CAW National Council 4000 endorses Lewenza and Kennedy and actively supports their bid for office.
