One final CN derailment for 2005
|CN ended the year 2005, a disastrous year for them in terms of derailments, particularly in Western Canada, with one final derailment
to cap off the year. This one happened in Winnipeg just after noon-hour the day before New Year’s Eve. A dozen rail cars were one
sent crashing into a residential fence, rattling a university frat house.
There were no injuries in the December 30th derailment, which CN Spokesperson Jim Feeney in Edmonton called “a minor mishap.”
Winnipeg was the site where CN kicked off its record year for derailments. Just before noon on Wednesday, January 12, 2005, 10
cars derailed in the Fort Richmond area of city, also along side Pembina Highway further south of Fort Rouge Yard.
