|June 1, 2005
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers today released results of the CN Signal and Communications workers' vote
on a new collective agreement. The new contract won 75% support with a 75% participation rate.
"IBEW solidarity makes our union strong," says Kevin Kearns, General Chairperson. "Many local members and local
representatives worked very hard to put together this agreement."
The four-year agreement features a 13% wage increase (3,3,3,4), a signing bonus, improved vacation pay and improved benefits.
IBEW System Council No. 11 members install, maintain and repair railway signals and communications systems including
highway warning systems, fibre optic networks and centralized traffic control systems. The union represents over 700 CN
employees across Canada as well as signal and communications workers at CP, ONTC, TTR and 14 other Canadian railways.
