|CLC Solidarity & Pride Conference
|November 21, 2005
The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) held their third Solidarity and Pride Conference at the Hilton
Québec Hotel in Québec City November 13-15, 2005. The theme of the Conference was “Beyond Legal
Equality to Social Equality”.
The CAW normally holds a CAW National Pride Conference at the CAW Family Education Centre at Port
Elgin, Ontario, but decided this time to encourage CAW Locals to send a strong contingency of
delegates to this year's CLC Solidarity and Pride Conference.
The CAW hosted a lunch for CAW members before the Conference started, which was open to gay,
lesbian, bisexual, and transgender activists and allies.
The conference included a number of important plenaries and workshops designed to meet the needs
of new and seasoned activists.
Solidarity and Pride conferences require extra work to encourage participation. As you know, fear of
discrimination can still mean that lgbt unionists do not feel safe to be out about who they are.
