CAW Members Ratify new deal at Autoport Concord

Bob Fitzgerald, President of National Council 4000 announced that Council 4000
members at Autoport Concord Inc. ratified a new Collective Agreement on May 4,
2005.  The three year deal provides for a retroactive 3% wage increase in each
year of the agreement.

It also provides for contract language as follows:

  • Expanded language to protect bargaining unit work;
  • Language that prohibits discharge of employees without first discussing
    the circumstances with senior Union Representatives;  
  • Purging of discipline record after 18 months;
  • Seniority  consideration for daily work assignments;
  • Increase in footwear allowance;
  • Expansion in Bereavement leave coverage;
  • Expansion and maintenance of Group Insurance Plan (includes STD,
    LTD), Life Insurance and Pension Plan;
  • Additional rest breaks on overtime.

    Mr. Fitzgerald said that this was a tough round of talks that took precision thinking and calculated decision making.  The
    Committee worked relentlessly and did a great job for which they must be thanked and congratulated.  

    Fitzgerald said that the Committee thanked CAW National Staff Representative John Moore Gough for the wisdom and guidance
    he brought to the committee.
