CAW and Toronto Terminal Railways reach tentative 3-year deal
|
|
The CAW has reached a tentative three year deal with the Toronto Terminal Railways (TTR). Each year of the proposed deal will see wage increases of 3%, with additional increases from one to 8% for other specific classifications. The Union successfully negotiated the elimination of the concessionary demands that TTR placed on the bargaining table.
The TTR membership are members of CAW Local 4003, which is a division of CAW National Council 4000. The Union negotiated the elimination of Step Rates in the collective agreement employees, replacing the rule where employees did not achieve the full rate of pay for the first 21 months of service. The elimination of Step Rates will result in immediate wage increases of between 10% and 15% for 35 CAW TTR members.
Members who have one year of service as of June 30th, 2007 will receive a $750.00 signing bonus. There were also improvements made to dental and health care benefits.
The tentative deal is subject to ratification by the TTR membership. Ratification meetings will be held on or about June 1st & 5th, 2007. Click here for more details
